Augury: The Ancient Avian Art of Divining
Ornithomancy is an ancient form of divination that interprets omens from the behavior, flight patterns and calls of birds.
The etymology of the word is derived from the Greek ornithos (bird) and mantis (seer).
Texts on bird oracles were written in Hitties in Anatolia in the 13th or 14th century BCE. It was also familiar to the Etruscan, who may have brought it to Rome.
